Breathing New Life into an Old Lao Folktale

“A Sticky Mess” is a vibrant retelling of the beloved Lao folktale, Xieng Mieng, in a 32-page picture book format. This personal project spanned 14 years, during which I penned the manuscript and created full-color illustrations.

Undertaking the roles of author, illustrator, and designer, I adapted this classic tale for a new generation, crafting a layout that reflects the story’s rhythm and energy.
